The place
The solemn Mother Church of Marsala, of supposed Norman origin but completely renewed in the seventeenth century, and the Palazzo VII Aprile, of eighteenth-century appearance, with their façades, though different in style, enliven Piazza Loggia.
A true treasure chest of art is the Mother Church of Marsala, which holds fine Renaissance sculptures by the Gaginis, including the San Tommaso, a masterpiece by Antonello, the graceful Madonna of the People by Domenico, and the wonderful marble icon of the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, by Bartolomeo Berrettaro and Antonello himself.
No less interesting are the paintings, including a picture by Antonello Riccio (16th century) and two canvases by Domenico La Bruna (17th century).
