The place
The numerous sacred shrines, called fiuredde in dialect after the sacred figure they contain, are an expression of spontaneous popular religiosity shown in the custom of lighting candles and decorating the shrine with palms, flowers and drapes on the feast day of the Saint to whom it is dedicated and on other religious occasions.
We are not talking about jewels or universal works of art but about small signs of love, so many that sooner or later you will meet them on your journey. They are what remains of stops on thousand-year-old religious routes, or tributes of a loving, familiar and intimate faith, faithful gestures of a forgotten devotion, of a measured and expressed belief, that invites a smile, encounter, tolerance and peace.
